Memorial to 9/11

Easton Fire Department emplaces annual tribute to fallen heroes of 9/11

Each year, on the evening of the 10th of September, members of the Easton Fire Department gather on the green in front of the firehouse.

They lay out a grid of 343 American flags in the shape of the twin towers of the World Trade Center. The 343 flags represent the 343 FDNY firefighters who died during rescue operations when the twin towers collapsed.

A plaque is placed on the green in memory of Peter, Sue, and Christine Hanson, who died aboard flight UA 175.

Those of us who lived through it will never forget 9/11. May that memory always lead us to cherish our community, and inspire us to serve it better.
